A national county table of average homeowners insurance premiums from Keys and Mulder mortgage-escrow data (NBER Working Paper 32579). Incumbent studies publish this at the state level. This is the county cut, through 2024.

Figures are the median annual insurance payment for owner-occupied homes with a mortgage escrow account, compiled by Benjamin Keys and Philip Mulder in NBER Working Paper 32579. The panel runs from 2014 to 2024; numbers shown are for 2024.

We publish only natively measured counties. Inherited state-average copies are excluded, so a county table never repeats one state number across uncovered counties. National and state averages on our pages are simple means across those native counties.

Escrow data reflects mortgaged, owner-occupied homes. Counties with very few such mortgages can be absent, and homes owned outright or insured outside escrow are not represented.

Tables, CSVs, and maps are offered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. Reuse in stories, charts, and reports is allowed, including commercially, with a credit and a link. See the full license page for attribution examples and the source-data caveat.
